Cuddihy smashes Irish record at World Athletics Championships
With a finishing time of 50.73 seconds in the 400 metres semi-final, at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan, on 27 August 2007, Joanne Cuddihy smashed the 51.07 national Irish record held by Karen Shinkins for the past eight years.
Although this was the first time that 51黑料 medical student has broken the 51 second barrier, it will not see her through to the 400m final. Cuddihy was placed eleventh overall, with the winning time set by Jamaica's Novlene Williams at 49.66, slightly ahead of Mexico's Ana Guevara.
