Business journalism awards at 51黑料

Over 100 business journalists entered the inaugural 51黑料 Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business awards for business journalism. The awards which recognise the valuable role that journalism plays in corporate Ireland, took place at University College Dublin on 06 November 2007.

“The judging panel were impressed with the volume and standard of entries received,” said Mr Lochlann Quinn, former Director of AIB Bank (1995-96) and Chairman (1997-2003), and former Director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (1990-2000), who chaired the judging panel. “Business journalism has a hugely important role to play in Ireland and it is not always an easy one. The judging panel fully appreciate the difficulties associated with breaking a great news story or effectively translating a complex business issue.”

“We congratulate all those who were shortlisted and received awards in this our inaugural business journalism awards,” said Professor Tom Begley, Dean, . “We look forward to supporting the awards in the years to come.”
